I like myself, no matter who I am! -AAA-

With the avex World Audition close at hand, Takahiro Nishijima and Misako Uno from AAA agreed to do an interview!

インタビュー

-- What made you think that you wanted to become a professional performer?

Uno: It was the avex Audition, which I took during the summer vacation of my first year of high school because I wanted to do something memorable during my last summer vacation before the entrance exams.

-- How did you get over the everyday hurdles?

Uno: I really want use my professional awareness to overcome the part of me that is stoic towards myself. And, I think that I can do it with the advice and support of my family that I love and the staff that I can trust, but there are higher places that I don’t think I can reach yet.

-- What belief or mantra did you adhere to before you turned pro?

Uno: To have confidence, and to like myself no matter who I am.

Nishijima: To please my customers, and by doing that, please myself! That’s it!

-- Do you have any stories like, “this is the kind of training I did.”

Nishijima: 3 times a week I would run from my company located at Aoyama to Shinjuku and back.

Uno: Every night I would do a daily routine of sit-ups, I’m still doing it.

-- Is there a part of the Japanese entertainment world that makes you think “This is great!”

Uno: I think when you focus on that Japanese quality of being sensitive to the small details, it creates the coolest and most beautiful performances.

-- Please tell us if you have a point that you think makes you appealing as a professional performer.

Uno: Feeling like I want to, I will express something to my family, my friends, my fans, the important people in my life, to everyone.

Nishijima: Having that feeling like when you’re at a Sports Day event, that moment when they say “Ready, Go!” at the short distance sprint and you think, “Watch this!” That feeling.

-- Did you have any “I can talk about it now, but back then it was kind of embarrassing” experiences at the audition?

Uno: Even though I was the oldest at the training camp for those of us who passed the final audition, I was really excited about being with all the younger kids (laughs)

Nishijima: We were so hungry at training camp and everyone was wolfing down this pizza, I choked and this thin onion came out of my nose. My burned nose burned all through class (laughs)

-- Is there a part of avex that you think is really great?

Uno: avex staff are all so nice, friendly, funny and sometimes strict. avex artists are nice and easy to get along with and everyone is so admirable.

-- Do you have any special advice for those living abroad who want to be successful performers in Japan?

Uno: I think you can discover something new in learning  about Japanese culture and tradition.

Nishijima: I want you to stir up the scene with a new music tornado! Let’s get pumped together!
